Twenty years. It's hard to believe.

When we opened the doors to everything but the dog 20 years ago, we had no idea just how much this little shop—and the wonderful community around it—would become part of our lives. This November, we're celebrating two decades in business, and more than anything, we're feeling incredibly grateful.

More Than Just a Pet Store

One of the most special parts of these 20 years has been the privilege of being included in your dogs' lives.

We've watched puppies grow into seniors, welcomed new additions to your families, celebrated milestones, and shared in both the happy moments and the heartbreaking ones. We've gotten to know your dogs by name, their personalities, favorite treats, and little quirks. And when it's time to say goodbye, we feel that loss right along with you.

Of course, we've loved sharing our own dogs with you, too. So many of you knew and loved Maddie, our wonderful shop dog who was such a familiar face at everything but the dog. And while Ada hasn't followed in Maddie's shop-dog footsteps, many of you have gotten to know her through our stories and updates. Sharing them with you has made our shop feel even more like family.

Over the years, we've also loved watching the pet industry evolve—discovering new products, learning about nutrition, and finding wonderful brands to share with you. That curiosity and excitement for what we do hasn't changed, but it's the relationships we've built that have made these 20 years truly special.

I also couldn't celebrate this milestone without recognizing the incredible people who have been part of everything but the dog along the way.

To Kristen, Becca, Kayla, Carrie, Sydney, Tallulah, Ava, Dylin, Kat and of course my husband George—thank you. From the early days to today, each of you has brought something special to this little shop. Your hard work, dedication, personalities, and genuine care for our customers and their dogs have helped make everything but the dog what it is today.

I'm so grateful for the crew I've had beside me throughout these 20 years. I couldn't have done it without you.
